Diana Krall: Live in Rio Heading to Blu-ray

Eagle Rock Entertainment today has announced they will be bringing Diana Krall: Live In Rio to Blu-ray day-and-date with the DVD release on May 26, 2009.

Live in Rio features Krall with her quartet—Anthony Wilson (guitar), John Clayton (bass) and Jeff Hamilton (drums)—plus a full orchestra on 18 lush, romantic, and evocative songs. This release showcases Krall performing standards such as “Where Or When,” “Too Marvelous For Words,” “I’ve Grown Accustomed To His Face,” and Hal David and Burt Bacharach’s  “Walk On By,” among others. Many of these tracks are off Krall’s Quiet Nights (Verve) CD release, her 12th studio album.

Bonus features include “Conversations,” an intimate interview with Diana and her band during their stay in Rio de Janeiro, the city that she credits for inspiring her fascination with Latin styles,  and a new video for “The Boy From Ipanema.” Additionally, the Blu-ray contains the exclusive feature —“The Rooftop Sessions:” four additional tracks  (“The Boy From Ipanema,” “Too Marvelous For Words,” “Cheek To Cheek” and “Quiet Nights”) also filmed in Rio.
