Afro Samurai Resurrection Blu-ray Product Exchange

afroresurrectthumbbdFunimation Productions has announced an exchange program for its recently released Blu-ray version of the popular animé production featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Lucy Liu, Afro Samurai Resurrection. Certain copies of the Afro Samurai Resurrection: Special Edition Director’s Cut Blu-ray are affected by an audio problem. While it was intended that the audio on this title be English Dolby TrueHD 5.1, it has come to Funimation’s attention that the audio track on some of these units is a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix.

TheaterByte can in fact confirm that there are copies of this Blu-ray release floating around with only a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, even as the packaging is labeled as having a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 English audio mix. We have obtained one of these flawed copies and verified this issue ourselves.

Fortunately for consumers who have plunked down their hard-earned cash on this wonderful title hoping to get the best of what Blu-ray has to offer — that is to say, high definition video AND audio — Funimation is doing the right thing and offering a free exchange for consumers with the affected discs. Users who believe they have one of these discs should  send an email to productconcerns@funimation.com in order to resolve the issue.
