Complete Star Wars Saga, Individual Trilogy Sets on Blu-ray in September, Available for Pre-Order

Well, the big announcement has come, my young padawans and Star Wars is officially, officially announced for release on Blu-ray. The sci-fi films that are really more of a worldwide phenomenon had their Blu-ray release detailed at a special event at CES in Las Vegas today. Mixed in amongst the spectacle at the Panasonic booth were the following details: the long-awaited, highly anticipated release will come in three versions:

  • Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray (9-disc Set includes all six films)
  • Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes I-III)
  • Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes IV-VI)

This is good news to all fans of the original trilogy who still cringe at the thought of Jar Jar Binks. Still bad news for those who want the original, non-special edition films, however. No sign of those anywhere. The sets will contain the SE versions of the original trilogy, as announced previously.

STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA ON BLU-RAY will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will be available for $139.99 US/$179.99 CAN and the Star Wars: Trilogy Sets for $69.99 US/89.99 CAN.  Pricing for each set will vary by international territory.
