Opera Browser Making its Way to Sony TVs and Blu-ray Players

The Norwegian-based software developer Opera Software ASA announced an agreement that will bring the company’s Opera web browser to Sony’s line of Bravia TV’s and Blu-ray Disc players. The Opera web browser has a small share of the desktop browser market, but it has been making major inroads in the embedded market through OEM deals, and this latest agreement with Sony is a surely a big one.

Through the Opera Devices Software Developer Kit, Opera should bring customization and ease of content distribution to global markets by enabling the delivery of web applications, widgets, full web browsing and emerging standards such as HTML5, HbbTV and OIPF to Sony’s devices.
